Opt-In/Cost

All enrolled degree-seeking undergraduate students in the day program and full-time graduate students on the Danforth Campus are eligible to enroll in the student health insurance plan on a hard waiver basis. All eligible international students on the Danforth Campus are required to purchase this insurance plan on a mandatory basis.

Students who enroll in SHIP may choose to insure their dependents. Students may enroll their dependents through the Care26 platform during the open enrollment period

For the 2026-2027 policy year, Washington University in St. Louis has been upgraded to the latest release of the AHP student health insurance platform.

Continuation coverage is available for students who no longer meet eligibility. Student must be enrolled previous semester to be eligible. All students and their dependent(s) can purchase six (6) months of additional medical coverage. (Dental is not available.) Continuation must be purchased within sixty (60) days of the current coverage termination date.
